NA President Meets Vice President of the National Assembly of Laos

VIENTIANE: President of Cambodia’s National Assembly, Khuon Sodary met with Suonthone Xayachack, Vice President of the National Assembly of Laos during breakfast on December 7, following the closing of the Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam (CLV) Parliamentary Summit.

The two leaders celebrated the success of their first CLV Summit, which brought produced results they say will benefit the three countries and their people within the CLV Development Triangle (CLV-DTA) through cooperation between the three parliaments.

Khuon Sodary expressed her deep gratitude to the Lao National Assembly, the Party, the State and the people of Laos for their warm and cordial welcome to her and her delegation during their first official visit.

The National Assembly President emphasized that every time she visits Laos, she felt a close close bond and warmth akin to visiting relatives. The two National Assembly leaders recalled the long history of solidarity between their two countries and noted that good relations have been nurtured by leaders of the two countries throughout the generations and that they continue to grow steadily in both the legislative and executive frameworks, bringing prosperity and development to both countries and their people.

They agreed to continue to preserve the traditional culture of brotherhood for a long time and to educate the next generation to better understand and maintain the valued relationship between them.

This week was Khuon Sodary’s first official visit abroad since she took office in August. She first led a high-level delegation to Vietnam to meet with leaders there before continuing on to Laos to do the same ahead of the CLV Summit. She will return with her delegation today, having strengthened parliamentary bonds between Cambodia and its bordering countries.
